Full Stack Engineer — maps, chat, payments, admin, and AWS deploy

StudentRoomBooker

University-adjacent room booking marketplace

What it is

StudentRoomBooker is a marketplace for finding a room next to campus: geo search, listings, chat with owners (Socket.IO), Stripe payments, and a role-based admin. The stack is React/Redux, Node/Express, MongoDB, Docker, and AWS.

Students do not want a generic classifieds site. They want “near my college,” a conversation with the owner, and a payment that does not feel like a scam.

Why I built it

Housing next to campus is still WhatsApp groups and Facebook posts. The product was built to make discovery, trust, and payment a single flow.

Whom it is for

Accommodation Hub — for students booking rooms and owners listing them, with admins moderating the marketplace.

Aim

Let a student find a room around campus, talk to the owner, and pay without leaving the product.

Goal

A working marketplace: geo, listings, chat, Stripe, and ops—not a landing page that promises housing.

Hope

That the first week of semester is less chaotic because housing search is a product, not a rumor mill.
